Browser games site with online multiplayer
Bath IT Games — case study
Our own games site: over twenty classic card, board and puzzle games in the browser, a daily challenge, and online tables for chess, poker, hearts and more — free, no adverts, nothing to install.
The project
What was needed
A showcase for what our platform can do beyond brochure sites — and a useful thing in its own right: classic games that play properly in any browser, with no adverts, no accounts and nothing to download.
Then the harder part: playing against real people. That meant a public lobby, tables anyone can open and join, and card games where nobody can see anyone else's hand.

The work
What this demonstrates
More than brochure sites
The platform that runs our clients' websites also runs a live multiplayer games site: tables that update as people play, rules the server enforces, sign-in without passwords. If your business needs something interactive — bookings, quotes, a customer area — this is the kind of work behind it.
Inside the site
Beyond the home page
Chess against Stockfish, at whatever level you like
Backgammon — against the computer or a person
On a phone
Built for the screen most people use
Most games are played on a phone, in a spare minute. Every board and table is laid out for that first — pieces and cards big enough to tap — then scaled up to a desktop.
Technical notes
How it's built
Online play runs through the server: each move is an event the other browser picks up
Poker and hearts are dealt on the server — every seat sees only its own cards
Sign-in by emailed link, so there are no passwords to store or leak
Automated rule checks play every game to its end before each release
Where it is now
Live at games.bathit.co.uk — free, no adverts.
