Selby & Mills — case study

Chartered occupational psychologists with a large catalogue of psychometric assessments, sample reports and training material, organised for four different audiences.

The project

What was needed

Selby & Mills had decades of material — seven psychometric products, sample reports, training qualifications, downloads — on an ageing site that was hard to update and organised by product rather than by who was looking. Organisations, individual candidates, consultancies and web publishers each needed a different way in.

The move had to keep every URL and every PDF working: sample reports are exactly the kind of thing people bookmark, email and link to, and a broken link on a long-established site is a lost visitor and lost search standing.

What Bath IT built

The work

A site organised by audience

Service pages for organisations, individuals, consultancies and web publishers, each leading to the right products.

Product catalogue

Every assessment as a structured catalogue entry — scale, length, audience, what it measures — with sample reports to download.

Downloads and enquiries

Sample reports as downloads, and enquiry forms routed to the right person for each audience.

Migration without loss

Every page from the old site redirected to its new address, and every one of the 39 published PDFs resolved from its old path.

What this demonstrates

Scale and structure, not just pages

This wasn't a small brochure site: seven products, four audiences, decades of reports and training material, and every old address to preserve. Selby & Mills shows we can organise a large amount of structured content so the right visitor finds the right thing, hand it to the client to edit, and move it from an old site without losing anything. If you have a lot of content and a history online, this is the relevant example.

On a phone

Built for the screen most people use

Most visitors to a site like this arrive on a phone, often on mobile data. Every page is designed for that first — readable, tappable, quick — and then scaled up to a desktop, not the other way round.

Technical notes

How it's built

Content-managed: the client edits pages, products and downloads in a visual editor without us

The catalogue is a module of the platform, not a plugin — one codebase, one login, one set of updates

Old document paths are resolved automatically: a request for a PDF at its old address is 301'd to the new file, so bookmarks and inbound links keep working

Per-page titles and descriptions, structured data and a sitemap generated from the content
